If you are too, and you're looking for a new JA, this is not it.Still, I'm finding just enough to enjoy here to be able to recommend it. It's a decent tbs with a good bit of strategy, even if it has some issues. Good- Fun tbs gunplay- Enjoyable banter- Satisfying weapons (impact, sound)- A hint of Jagged Alliance flavour- Manages to get you into the spirit of freeing an oppressed peopleOk - Graphical style is nice, but does not quite fit the franchise- The story picks up rather late- Some of the voice acting is good, some of it is rather lacklustre- Seeing some of the old favourites return, and even ... no I won't spoil that- 20 hours of gameplay is a bit short, but for 20 bucks it's ok- Stealth component is well done, though I was glad the reliance on that faded when I picked up better weaponsBad- Not Jagged Alliance (just that whiff of it)- Weak AI, sometimes downright dumb- The first few missions are a TERRIBLE reflection of what the game really is about- Missions are very much "on rails"- Picking up loot at the end of a mission is a real pain- After clearing the map of enemies, still being in tbs is a real painAll in all, much worse has been done to iconic franchises such as Might and Magic, Command & Conquer, Ultima and others. :). The game crashes when I'm 'outside' and 1-3 minutes into the game. So it is no hardware problem, as other games with higher requirements work just fine.Otherwise it looks loke a fun game. All the downlotes here comparing with ja1,2... maybe 'the old' players are disappointed but thats my first ja game. It is fine, it 'just' crashes.Loading times are short. Seems to be a fun game. I hope for a fix though.. As a fan from the very first game back in 1995 and the ones that followed I am not disapointed at all.Still that great feeling, challenging without being impossible. Real challenge this time on managing your amo (most of the time you'll switch weapons with the ones you pick on corpses, amo is in very limited supply)Still pretty early in the game but it seems access to good weapons won't come easy.On the minus side: the game doesn't look like much but it does consume a lot of CPU/graphic card power, was planning to play on the laptop plugged in the big TV but it was so slow, impossible to play: had to give up and install it on the gaming computer.Sad that the turn system stay even once all enemies are eliminated sure you can remote loot but still have to move turn by turn within the movement limits.. This isn't a AAA title, but enjoying it so far after being a longstanding fan of the series (faults in all). Think I've played all of them except Flashback. Don't have as much time anymore (to dedicate to all the intricacies a la JA2 v1.13, which is phenomenal), so guess I'm caught up in the throwback nature of it. Biggest fault so far is the inventory management in particular how tedious it is to loot after battle. I actually think the stealth in this game works fairly well and is pretty much mandatory. Yes maps are smaller, but with 2 mercs is the right size. I hope there's enough interest to really spark a proper JA3, but for <$20 not too disappointed so far (~6 hrs in) and will keep playing.. If you as I enjoyed the old Jagged Alliance games as a casual game you will like this one. It's a nice turn based game, very much like Xcom 2 and with nice cartoonish graphic.. I like it. Been a JA fan since the first release and played every one since. This one is worthy of the franchise. All the tactical elements and plot line features I know and love. A few simplifications in the housekeeping and upkeep areas that I also liked once I understood them. Just the right level of challenge for me too. More like this and I'll play those too. Keep them coming.. Give this a few years of bug patching, community mods, improving graphics, and overhauling the entire crafting/weapons mods/merc/inventory systems, and it might well be quite a decent game.In its current state I'd rate it somewhere between "meh" and "okay, I guess". Get it in a sale and ignore the "Jagged Alliance" epithet.
